Roses by Raoul Dufy

After reviewing how the great artists of the past have painted roses, I've come to think that few artists have ever been great at painting roses. But perhaps one of the best, in my opinion, was French artist Raoul Dufy (1877-1953). In this post, I have collected some of his works that featured roses. His styles included fauvism and cubism, as he was acquainted with all of the great artists of his time including Matisse and Monet. Obviously, he knew his subject well from sheer practice, because he produced many paintings of roses.

At the end of this post, I've added some rose paintings by Raoul's brother, Jean Dufy (1888-1964).
