This Artist Inspires Me. I Want to Be Like Him.

Many times I've noticed the longevity of artists. They are probably more active than many people are, not sitting as much and they move around while working. Perhaps when we use our creative energy within, it adds years as well.

Today, I was inspired by reading about a 98 year old Singapore artist who is still going strong by creating one or two pieces of art each day, and he thinks about how to improve his next work and style as he goes to sleep at night. Perhaps that is a key as well, that is, he's not worrying about the past but always going forward positively through art as a meditation practice. The idea of age is not an issue to him.

Lim Tze Peng, who is self-taught, began painting in the 1950s.

In 1912, one of his paintings sold for over $100,000 in a Christie's auction.

To celebrate his life's work (so far) there is a show of his paintings at the Ode to Art Gallery in Singapore.

He enjoys both painting scenes from his life, and calligraphy.

He tries to make his calligraphy paintings colorful and creative and he considers calligraphy and drawing scenes to cross boundaries and intermix.

This artist inspires me. I want to be like him.
