Finally, I’m sticking to a theme or style.
I’ve done and continue to do a series of minimalist floral arrangements in a metallic leaf vase on a black and white background. These are mixed media paintings incorporating watercolor and acrylic and ink on heavy watercolor paper. Right now I’m doing primarily 12x18 inch size. I’ve so far used red, blue, and gold metallic leaf. Using leaf to make the vases is challenging but maybe I’ll improve my technique over time?? I’m calling these my summer of 2026 mix n match backyard garden series.
For each of the paintings, I’ve had the flower or flowers in front of me to study as I paint. This seems important as I can study and marvel at the intelligent design of Nature and get close to the essence of the flower while I paint it. Hopefully this leads to something special transferred to the paper versus not having the actual flower in front of me.
