My 2017 Twitter Art Exhibit is titled "White Lilies"

The postcard sized art piece pictured above is my twitter art exhibit contribution for 2017. Tomorrow, I will be mailing it to London for the children's hospital fundraiser there.

This artwork was inspired by one of my favorite artists, Matisse. I love how he incorporates bouquets and houseplants into so many of his paintings which have colorful, busy interiors, wallpapers, and richly patterned fabrics. I was lucky to see his artwork in a special Matisse show at the Denver Art Museum in 2014. Many of the paintings at the show were extremely large, which only added to the feeling of awe as I stood in front of them. Attending the show, for me, was a feeling of being in heaven while here on earth.

I did two of these distorted vases, following the black and white daisies, which got me started subdividing my composition for the arrangements. This piece, too, is in the whacky, perhaps humorous or cartoonish category.

I love black and white art. This piece was an experiment. I enjoy composing a piece of art as I go, which is the ultimate of losing oneself by being "in the moment". This piece was not inspired by any other piece of art, I just got an idea and did it. The "red stamp" was added to give it an Asian flair, as I've done a great deal of ink brush stroke art in the past, always ending with adding a red stamp or chop.
